Passage of Time: Sept - November: view all

Kathy says she has been making art since a young age. Since graduating in Fine art in 1998 at Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia, she has been active in Australia, the U.K and New Zealand.
Kathy has a long list of exhibitions, and has had numerous commissions. She has also co- written and illustrated three books, and had her own textiles company.

Her works are generally abstract, and often use bold and emotive colours and beautiful detail in the blending. "Starting with a mood, hue or shape, I work intuitively, filling my canvases with broad brushstrokes. As each piece emerges, I center on making the colours come alive; removing and adding layers of paint and scratching into the surface with chalk and pencil, adding greater depth and detail until completion. My desire is to create accessible works of art that have the ability to stop the viewer, draw them in for further exploration and make a meaningful connection".

In this appropriately named exhibition, we present works spanning across more than 20 years - the earliest here was done in 1996. Most are expressive colours with oil and pencil but we also have a charcoal work on display. A first for Kathy here is to have her work in print format: this multi media show has not only original paintings, but prints on canvas, wood prints, water bottles, cushions and more.
