A study of a lamb carcass. This one I painted with two agendas First, because I have an impression purely with depicting material properties. Flesh in this case, and it's various different tissues on the de-skinned head, the enamel of the teeth, different areas and layers of muscle, cartilage, tendons, blood vessels. An eyeball sitting in the orbital cavity, droplets of blood around the nostrils. I have to say rendering it requires my attention and devotion to an extent that feels mesmerizing. I become enchanted. My other agenda is the head as a subject exposed to viewers and spectators. A visceral subject evokes a plethora of funny reactions in naive and virgin spectator's minds.
